Morning Glory

for N.P., who breathed the first line

We need a particular privacy to feel—
a wired frame guarded by a quilt, dark
curtains who tame the sun,
the certainty of a locked door.
There is a weather I want
in the smallest places of my body,
a sneaky warmth that only comes
from the breath. I arch like a flower,
undo myself so that I could undo
another. What do you like?
Can it be the purpleness of me,
if only for right now? I am a creature
who moves slow and deep,
kisses hips in search of something
pink before I am lured back
by a sound that no one has heard
you make.
