You can find Laurie “hopefully at a beach.” Same, Laurie, but probably not as soon as we would like.

What are some major accomplishments you have had since your Sweet publication?

My poetry collection, Somewhere a Woman Lowers the Hem of Her Skirt, was published by Riot In Your Throat this year.

Can you tell us about a current/ongoing project that you’re excited about?

I just started writing a YA novel… which is not something I thought I’d do, but I’m having fun with it!

Who is your favorite author?

That’s like asking who my favorite kid is! I don’t have an answer to that, but I always have one of Denise Duhamel’s books nearby.

What is your favorite poem/essay/book?

Again, I think that’s too hard to narrow down, but Grammar Lessons by Michele Morano inspired me in so many ways when I was beginning to write creative nonfiction.

What inspires you to write?

Deadlines! And the fact that I start to get itchy if I don’t write.

What are you reading right now?

Carry: A Memoir of Survival on Stolen Land by Toni Jensen. It’s wonderful.

What is your favorite sweet? We would love for you to share a recipe or link to place that serves it. Pictures are great, too!

I LOVE the Klondike mint chocolate minis. So good with your morning coffee, if you’re that kind of girl.

How did we not know those existed!?!

Thank you, Laurie, for taking the time to reconnect with us. We look forward to seeing more of your work in the future!
