Super excited to be doing a summer spoken word residency with Boys & Girls Club in Lancaster, PA

You can find out more about Dana on her website.

What are some major accomplishments you have had since your Sweet publication?

Performing at spoken word events which is a new space for me since I’ve always been primarily an actor who wrote page poems. I love combining my two favorite art forms.

Can you tell us about a current/ongoing project that you’re excited about?

I’m co-writing a hybrid chapbook with a former student who suffered a terrible trauma. She recovered and is currently studying to be a teacher and about to give birth to her first child. The book is a dedication to him. It will include poems, prose, erasures, and photo poems from both of us describing the incidents in her life and our relationship as teacher/student and our friendship.

Who is your favorite author?

Pablo Neruda

What is your favorite poem/essay/book?

All About Love by bell hooks

What inspires you to write?

The need to express truth and find hidden moments of beauty to share with others.

What are you reading right now?

The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett

What is your favorite sweet? We would love for you to share a recipe or link to place that serves it. Pictures are great, too!
