Lisa continues to live on Staten Island and work in NYC as a nurse. She has two juniors now…one in high school and one in college! And she is well on her way to having her third collection of poems ready for publication. Be sure to see what else she is up to on her website.
What are some major accomplishments you have had since your Sweet publication?
My second book, The Long Grass, was published in 2020. In 2023 I received a Pushcart nomination, my first!
Can you tell us about a current/ongoing project that you’re excited about?
I’m putting together my third collection of poetry. It is exciting to have the shape of a manuscript come into view and to start imagining it in the world as a whole rather than as individual poems in journals.
What is your favorite poem/essay/book?
I return often to Ross Gay’s Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude.
What inspires you to write?
My writing group and my family.
What are you reading right now?
The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O’Farrell.
What is your favorite sweet? We would love for you to share a recipe or link to place that serves it. Pictures are great, too!
It’s King Cake season for anyone who’s spent any time in Louisiana, and I made a fabulous one just this week…
We love King Cake, but not sure we are brave enough to make one on our own!
Thank you, Lisa, for taking the time to reconnect with us again! We look forward to seeing more of your work in the future!
