What are some major accomplishments you have had since your Sweet publication?

Currently I am Clark County Poet Laureate (CCPL) in Nevada, and I serve as Board Trustee with Henderson Libraries.

Can you tell us about a current/ongoing project that you’re excited about?

The theme for my CCPL project is poetry for resilience. It has been wonderful to spend time with people as we look at reading poetry as a contemplative practice and as a place to find peace. We’ve also mixed poetry with outdoor experiences like birdwatching, and we have learned about other arts in relationship to poetry.

Who is your favorite author?

I just can’t choose, but lately I read Ada Limon’s work again and again.

What is your favorite poem/essay/book?

Diving into the Wreck by Adrienne Rich

What inspires you to write?

There are so many stories, and we all need a story that only someone else can tell.

What are you reading right now?

In the Shelter by Padraig O Tuama

What is your favorite sweet? We would love for you to share a recipe or link to place that serves it. Pictures are great, too!
