EKPHRASTIC WRITING
Although ekphrastic writing is often considered to be creative work inspired by visual art, we’ll write poems and flash essays inspired by all kinds of art: paintings, photos, sculpture, textiles, music, dance, film, television, home movies, architecture, graphic design, furniture, and whatever else you might consider art that moves you.
This class includes four weekly sample readings and prompts, with your poem or short cnf piece (under 1000 words) due the following week. Participants will receive written responses from me and 2 fellow participants, chosen randomly by the software; each week you will be required to write responses for 2 fellow participants. In written feedback, we will always emphasize support, encouragement, and respect, working to describe what's going on in a piece before moving on to questions and suggestions.
