Irene Hoge Smith‘s essays have been published in journals including Prick of the Spindle, Amsterdam Quarterly, Vine Leaves Literary Journal, Stonecoast Review, and Chicago Quarterly Review. She has a doctorate in clinical psychology from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. and is a graduate of the postgraduate writing program at the Washington Center for Psychoanalysis. She has also studied with Rebecca McClanahan, Dinty W. Moore, David H. Lynn, and E.J. Levy (at the Kenyon Review Summer Writing Workshop), Mark Doty (Atlantic Center for the Arts), and Sue William Silverman (Vermont College of Fine Arts Postgraduate Conference).
