a symposium of seeds climbs on the gusts shaking the cypresses and satellite dishes, land to be flattened by a work boot. skitter, sciurine, to a patch of dirt. it is hard to admit rancor. to decide whether we want to be noticed. to expose our skin to the detritus the wind carries. to bear its sharp breath. to heed the trochees of the window knocking against its own frame, saying: enter, enter, enter.
